Hey everybody,

It's crunch time for youth camp registration! I need a at least a $50 deposit to let me know you're going for sure, and I need your medical release forms by next Wednesday, May 30! We are sending all of our final information to Highland Lakes Camp the following Thursday, May 31. Sign up now because there is no guarantee you will be able to go if you don't (and we really want you there).

BEAUTIFICATION DAY!

This Sunday from 2 pm - 5 pm we'll clean up/organize/decorate the youth rooms. We need each and every one of you there (if you can't be there the whole time that's okay, too) so that we can make our room something to be proud of, a place where we can worship in cleanliness, and a place that just looks cool. We need those of you with artistic talents to spice up the room. We need those of you who are good at organizing to help us get the closets and cabinets straight. And we need those of you who are innovative to ehlp make our rooms unique. If we all pitch in this place is gonna be sweet, and it's going to be an atmosphere that really displays our personality as a ministry. Start developing your ideas now, and by Sunday we'll be ready to go. And, remember, not everything has to be finished this Sunday, but at least we'll be starting the process.

We'll see you Sunday!

THE LEAP: THE CHURCH FOUNDERS

Lesson Overview: The Church Founders. 9.20.06

Biblical Passage: Acts 1:15-26

Supporting Scripture: Mark 3:13-19; Ephesians 4:11-12

Key Question: What was the role of the apostles in the early Church?

Biblical Truth: The apostles had to replace Judas with a capable leader.

Biblical Context: As the apostles prayed and waited for the Holy Spirit to come upon them, they gave attention to the matter of replacing Judas. The apostles gave careful attention to who would be selected as a leader. They chose two candidates who had been with them from the time of Jesus’ baptism. Resting in the sovereignty of God, they cast lots to determine their choice.

Memory Verse: Ephesians 4:11-12

THE LEAP: THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT

Lesson Overview

Biblical Passage: Acts 1:4-14

Supporting Scripture: Luke 24:44-49; John 15:26-27

Key Question: What is the role of the Holy Spirit?

Biblical Truth: Jesus promised to give the Church His Holy Spirit to empower them to share the gospel with all people.

Biblical Context: Christ instructed the apostles to remain in Jerusalem and wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Among other things, the coming of the Spirit would give believers power to witness to people from all tribes, languages, and nations. Jesus was clear regarding what His followers were to be doing until His return—witnessing in the power of the Holy Spirit. After promising His Holy Spirit, Jesus ascended into heaven while the disciples watched. The disciples returned to Jerusalem where they waited for the Spirit to come upon them.

Memory Verse: Acts 1:8

THE LEAP: GOD'S ARMY

Lesson Overview for Wednesday, September 6.

Biblical Passage: Matthew 16:13-20; Acts 1:1-3

Supporting Scripture: Psalm 118:22-24; Matthew 21:42

Key Question: How does my understanding of the Church impact my daily life?

Biblical Truth: The Church is the body of believers, both local and global, founded on Jesus Christ (God’s Son) and commissioned with proclaiming His true identity to the world.

Biblical Context: Matthew 16:13-20 is the first mention of “church” in the New Testament. This passage describes the Church’s role as Christ’s unstoppable force in this world. Jesus Christ is the rock, the very source and ground of the Church. Acts 1:1-3 introduces Luke’s history of the Church as a letter to someone named Theophilus. These two passages set the stage for the entire year of the study of the New Testament Church.

Memory Verse: Psalm 118:22-23
